Nekrolog Dorthella Ludvigson

Dorthella Larsen Ludvigson, 87, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 in Ephraim, Utah.
She was born in Sterling, Utah on April 19, 1922 to Nels Elroy and Ethel Ollerton Larsen. She lived in Sterling her entire life.
She married Ray Jones in 1940 and they were later divorced.
She married Lafe Ludvigson on January 7, 1944 in the Manti LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1995. They were married for 51 years, in this life, and worked hard to make a living and raise their family. They gave endless hours of service to the Church and Community and to their many friends and neighbors, and now together again, they can continue their work.
An active member of the LDS Church, Dorthella served in many positions including three different Relief Society Presidencies, Primary President, Primary Teacher, Mutual Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and in the Name Extraction Program. One of the highlights of her life was serving a Mission with her husband in the Dublin, Georgia Mission in 1981-82. She was also a member of the DUP. As a Mutual Leader she worked for many years in the production of the Road Shows which used to be part of the MIA.
Dorthella was very talented in music. She loved to sing and whistle which she often did as she was doing her work. She was determined to teach her kids to sing, which she did. She sang in many Church and Community programs and for years was a member of the Ward Choir. She also played the piano. She couldn't read music, but played by ear.
Dorthella worked hard as a homemaker, cooking, baking, sewing and cleaning. She also spent many hours in the garden and helping on the small family farm. She, along with her husband, worked for many years as the Church Janitors.
Dorthella loved life and enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved going to the mountains, up to the Lake, or even just having a weenie roast out in the lane. They were able to go to Hollywood, California three times, two of which, they rode the train, but she vowed that she would never get on a plane. She loved Disneyland and we'll never forget her screaming as she rode that crazy Matter Horn. Her family was the most important part of her life and she worried about them constantly!
She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and wit. She was quite outspoken and you always knew where you stood with her. She demonstrated that sense of humor right up until the very end, even though she was very sick and in terrible pain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Gail Ludvigson, two grandsons, Wayne Ludvigson and Jason Ludvigson, a brother Alvin Larsen, and two sisters, Dora Otten and Lillie Thomas.
She is survived by four sons, Errol Jones of Hurricane; Douglas (Cozette) Ludvigson of Sterling; Glade (Vickie) Ludvigson of Centerfield; Curtis (Laurie) Ludvigson of Sterling; brother-in-law, John Lee (Jennie Vee) Ludvigson of Sterling; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the ward chapel in Sterling on Saturday morning from 10:00 to11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Sterling Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
